People often want a personalised record of their house; paintings have a much more intimate relationship with the family and the house than photographs.

I get asked to do all sorts of abodes - from 16th century farmhouses to little weekend shacks by the sea. I can work from photographs if necessary, but prefer to paint from life as it is easier to pick up on the atmosphere of the area. I am a very keen gardener, so love to paint the flowers and plants - and often make the garden look more polished than it might be!
